Erith have been confirmed as the Principal Contractor for the substructure works at Paddington Cube, comprising piling, temporary works, bulk excavation and construction of a multi-level basement.
Adding to our already impressive portfolio of high-profile projects within the Capital, the Paddington Cube development evidences Erith’s ongoing commitment to high-quality, customer focussed service. Having demonstrated our capability to the Client during the early phases on-site, our collaborative working processes, expert methodologies and extensive technical expertise place us as the preferred company to continue the next step on the project.
Erith have been involved in the Paddington Cube development from the very early stages of the scheme, having been on site to carry out the demolition works to the former Royal Mail Sorting Office at 31 London Street. Through a highly competitive tendering process, Erith were able to demonstrate significant commercial and technical benefits to the development, placing us in pole position to carry out the next phase of the project. The award of the substructure contract allows for a seamless transition on site, without the need for demobilising and remobilising.
Forming part of the wider £850m Paddington Square development, Paddington Cube will feature a 14-storey glass-cladded building sitting upon three-storey podiums, offering over 350,000 sq ft of office, retail and restaurant space.
David Darsey, Erith’s Managing Director, commented on the contract award: “We are extremely pleased to continue to be part of the Paddington Cube project. We have been actively involved in this development for the past 8 months, carrying out the complex demolition works. We are distinctly proud to provide our services to this fantastic scheme which, upon completion, will be an iconic landmark in the centre of London.”
