Building upon our planned and sustained growth last year, Erith have started 2018 with a substantial investment in technologically advanced plant equipment. Combined with our robust range of existing equipment, we intend to continue our exemplary project performance with modern plant that remains at the forefront of health, safety and environmental standards.
With a strategic mix of medium and large machinery to synergise with the requirements of our future workload, this latest acquisition of resources consists of 12 Hitachi hydraulic excavators. Over £2,000,000 has been invested to procure the following models:
- 4nr Hitachi ZX85US
- 3nr Hitachi ZX490
- 2nr Hitachi ZX225
- 2nr Hitachi ZX135US
- 1nr Hitachi ZX350
The planned deployment of a number of these latest acquisitions will bolster another recent investment of plant by the Erith Group, for use at our Washmills recycling centre. Several of the new Hitachi equipment will be underpinned at the recycling centre by the following plant and attachments:
- Kleeman Mobicat 110
- Kleeman Mobiscreen MS15Z
- Powerscreen Chieftain 2100X 3 deck version
- Doppstadt SM620 Kette Unit
- Stanley MSD2250 Mobile Shears
- KINSHOFER DRS 45A Mobile Shears
The Washmills Recycling Centre further strengthens our position in the Ebbsfleet Garden City development. This increase in our recycling capacity allows for the reprocessing of tarmac and concrete, and not only serves our own requirements for aggregates on projects but also the demands of the external market in the South East and London, with 75,000t of construction and demolition waste treated per annum. Our materials will vary from a range of single sized shingles from 6mm to 40mm, Type 1 and many other bespoke recycled materials to meet our client’s requirements. Washmills will give us the platform to continue conserving natural resources and eliminating high demand for virgin materials.
The majority of this new plant has been fitted with fully automatic hydraulic quick couplers, using Oil Quick. Oil Quick is key to reducing health and safety risks on site as the system not only prevents oil spillages, but reduces man to machine interaction with attachments now being changed automatically, rather than manually, from inside the machine cabin. This technology also decreases down time and drastically improves efficiency
Innovations in health and safety remains at the forefront of our investment strategy. These specific models have been secured as they embody this approach through numerous safety features, including enhanced visibility through a repositioning of the doors from earlier models and an improved rear-view camera to greatly reduce blind spots.
Our commitment to an environmentally responsible and sustainable service has also figured in the targeted procurement of these low-emission models. They include several technologies to greatly reduce the effect on the environment, such as;
- ECO Control system: Ensures that when the control levers are returned to a neutral position, the engine operates at a reduced energy level
- ECO mode: Reduces the power demands to reduce emissions and improve fuel saving by 15%
- Selective Catalytic Reduction (SCR) system: Injects urea into exhaust gas to reduce nitrogen oxide from emissions. This leading innovation ensures compliance with European Tier IV Final standards.
