Erith scoop Demolition Specialist of the Year award

Leaders from across our industry came together last night at the Grosvenor House Hotel, London, for the Construction News Specialist Awards.

It proved a successful event for the Erith Group, as we were recognised with the highly coveted Demolition Specialist of the Year award.

This award acknowledges the sustainable growth achieved over a year that saw Erith rise to the World’s third largest demolition contractor. We set ourselves apart from a competitive market through a number of key drivers;

  • A complex and robust portfolio: prestigious schemes, such as the World Demolition Award winning Marble Arch Place and Cruiserath Transformation project, continued to showcase our capacity for complex demolition within sensitive areas.
  • Excelling against regulatory requirements: the Group’s exemplary Safety, health and environmental processes saw us successfully achieve the industry benchmarks ISO9001:2015, ISO14001:2015, OHSAS18001:2007 and ISO 39001:2012 this past year.
  • Health and safety excellence: our ongoing flagship campaigns, best practice initiatives and focus on mental health issues resonated with the expectations of today’s industry. This ethos was reflected in the Group’s lowest ever All Accident Frequency Rate.
  • Significant investment in people: The Group-wide upskilling programme and our approach to fostering in-house talent was recognised.

On our victory, the judging panel released this quote: “In what was a fiercely contested award, judges picked Erith Contractors for its superb demolition expertise in carrying out technically challenging and high-profile projects. The breadth of projects across sectors and exemplary approach to employee training and mental health, as well as employee ownership made it a worthy winner.”

David Darsey, Managing Director, commented: ““I am, as always, immensely proud of the work from the entire Group. To win Demolition Specialist of the Year symbolises a Group-wide effort, across multiple sectors and regions, and an investment strategy in people and safety that demonstrates real, tangible results.”
