THE DETAIL
With works ongoing, below are some examples of the types of projects we carry out on behalf of the City of Edinburgh Council.
Trinity Academy, July 2020

In July 2020, we completed asbestos removal works within Trinity Academy.

We carried out licensed works under fully controlled conditions in two phases due to the size of the project (150m2). Works involved removal of insulation residue to walls and pipework and encapsulation of all walls.

Hazards included live electrics, confined space restrictions, COVID-19 and working at height.

The project was completed on time, despite the site and project restrictions.

Usher Hall, July 2020

We completed asbestos removal works within Usher Hall, a concert hall located in the city’s West end. This is a bustling area of the city centre with high footfall and traffic.

Constructed in 1914, the hall has significant historical value importance, and Historic Scotland has registered the Hall with Category A listed building status.

We carried out licensed works under fully controlled conditions in three phases due to the size of the project (120m2). Works involved removing insulation residue to walls and pipework within the basement service corridor, staircase risers and piano corridor. Further works included encapsulation of all walls. There were various hazards, including live electrics, confined space restrictions, COVID-19 and working at height.

The project was completed on time and to budget, despite the site and project restrictions. This was of great importance as the hall was being used as a COVID-19 testing centre.
