Elwick Place, Ashford
Lendlease employed us to undertake enabling, ground, infrastructure and core construction work as part of the redevelopment scheme at Elwick Place in Ashford Kent.
Situated next to High Speed 1 rail, the completed site was to provide cinema facilities, retail units, hotel space and a car park.
Our role was to carry out enabling works, groundworks, infrastructure, core construction and concrete on metal decking work for the cinema as well as construction of the basement, ground and first floor of the hotel.
Technical Challenges
Due to the programme constraints, three of the four cores within the cinema had to be built at the same time.
As an integral milestone of the overall redevelopment scheme, all other contractors on site were excluded from the work area.
We used DOKA FRAMAX jump form, DOKA K Platforms and DOKA Shaft Platforms to construct the core walls.
Work on the concrete cores for the new multi-purpose complex were undertaken in mid-2017.
There were four four-storey cores within the cinema area in total, so connection plates had to be cast accurately into the cores to receive the structural steel.
