PROJECT

As an approved and trusted Licensed Asbestos Removal Contractor within the Marks and Spencer supply chain, we have been an active part of the company’s Asbestos Removal Framework since 2013

M&S operates from more than 1,000 food, clothing and homewares retail outlets and stores in the UK. Works have included planned and reactive maintenance as part of ongoing re-modelling programmes and emergency call-out requirements (under emergency waiver) which often involve responding out of operational working hours. Removal works have also involved enabling works to facilitate electrical and exploratory works, undertaking soft-strip and asbestos removal works at various M&S stores and offices across the UK.

Technical challenges

Our site teams have successfully completed projects both in temporarily closed and live operational stores.

If a building was to remain open during normal trading hours, the asbestos removal works took place throughout the evening and night-time hours while the store was closed to the public. Bespoke hoarding enclosures, erected by us, protected works during opening hours.

We complete more than 250 smaller projects a year, averaging £30k per project in addition to undertaking time sensitive, large-scale planned schemes. 

Projects have involved removal from boiler rooms, office buildings, food, clothing, houseware stores and outlets, usually comprising removal of asbestos insulating board (AIB), bulkheads and floor tiling/bitumen and full decontaminations.

We started working with M&S in 2013 and works to the value of £1,000,000 per year are ongoing.

Resource 

We utilise a dedicated M&S national delivery team, consisting of 35 operatives and seven supervisors and resourced from our regional network of offices to provide M&S with a 365, 24/7 highly responsive service. 

 The account is managed by a dedicated senior contracts manager, who has managed projects for M&S for more than 25 years. Support is provided by three regional senior contracts managers in addition to a dedicated senior management team as well as regional project managers, contracts coordinators and office managers, ensuring a national network of support to our client at all times.
