Alkerden Education Campus
The Alkerden Education Campus project involved the construction of the substructure elements of a new secondary school education building within the Whitecliffe Eastern Quarry Development in Ebbsfleet Garden City.
We were tasked with implementing drainage systems, underground service infrastructure, and constructing the concrete substructure slab on behalf of Camland, the client.
3,000
m3 concrete
1,300
lm foul water drainage
700
tonnes reinforcement
The work, situated within the existing quarry, encompassed installing all underground drainage (both foul and stormwater), service duct connections, and reinforced concrete foundations /raft slabs up to ground slab level, including lift pits. Additionally, the project required extensive bulk earthwork excavation to lower the site levels.
Despite various scope and design changes, the project’s success was ensured through early and continuous collaboration and coordination with the client and supply chain. Upon completion, the 11.1-hectare campus will feature a primary school, a secondary school with a capacity for 1,680 pupils and a sixth form, a community sports centre, and sports pitches.
