We are pleased to offer an opportunity to work within the Erith Group Procurement Team as a Buyer.

 

The candidate would ideally have previous experience of working in Procurement and the Construction Industry (although not essential) and enjoy working in a fast paced yet rewarding area of the business, contributing to the successful delivery of our projects. They will have responsibility for buying the requisite goods and services required by the various departments within the group and must be focused on minimising spending costs in every area whilst maintaining an awareness of quality, safety and environmental issues which are key requirements of the business. The ability to work within a busy team environment as well as individually is essential. The broad spectrum of services provided to the construction industry by the group requires that the candidate must be able to gain knowledge of all these areas and will be procuring for all departments within the business’ portfolio.

The role includes (but is not limited to):

  • Day to day procurement of materials, goods and services to ensure the smooth and efficient running of our projects
  • Liaising directly with site personnel to provide advice and guidance to assist in delivery of projects
  • Ensuring suppliers meet required delivery timescales
  • Negotiating prices with suppliers
  • Other ad hoc procurement for non-project requirements
  • Daily interface with the company-specific COINS accounts system

Working hours: Monday to Friday, 7:30am to 5:30pm, salary range £30-35k dependent upon experience

Infrastructure and Earthworks Contracts Manager - Reference EWI2806223
Home counties, and the South East

An opportunity has arisen for a Contracts Manager with a minimum of five years’ experience to join our expanding Earthworks and Infrastructure Division. Reporting to the Operations Director, you will have worked in similar roles and take responsibility for chairing client meetings with full regular full client liaison, cost control and budget monitoring, risk monitoring, DTMs, project meetings and health and safety. Oversee all coordination of the works, managing the teams and client facing lead.

You will have full day to day responsibility for multiple sites’ operations and take full responsibility of the programme from weekly dropline reviews and forecast looking ahead of any areas that are approaching the critical Path, unblocking design restraints and commercial blockers, factoring in long lead items by ordering in advance by way of procurement schedule management.

You will ensure that site operations and the effective delivery methodology of our Integrated Management System are being managed correctly by Project and Site Managers, Engineers and Subcontractors.

You will be accountable and motivate, encourage and drive the team to success, aiding where possible. You will lead by example.

Infrastructure and Earthworks Project Manager - Reference EWI2806222

We are looking for an experienced Earthworks and Infrastructure Project Manager to join our team with a minimum of 5 years experience in managing works on site, predominantly within the scope of earthworks. Remediation experience would be advantageous as is an exemplary Health and Safety compliance record.

Reporting to the Contracts Manager, you will manage the project site team, design team and subcontractors as required.

Specific responsibilities include

Based at our large facility at Ebbsfleet, Kent, just off the A2 near Bluewater, you will have a minimum of ten years’ experience within similar roles. Together with having a full UK driving licence, your specific responsibilities will include

  • Analysis of drawings and specifications
  • Understand contractual terms and conditions
  • Assemble accurate and well organised estimates and proposals in a timely manner
  • Provide clear detailed quantity take offs
  • Organise sub‐contractor’s quotations, negotiate to ensure quotes meet contract documents
  • Complete budgeting and scheduling for projects and track same
  • Ensure site personnel are provided with robust handover pack upon successful tender award
  • Provide and maintain unit pricing and database for material and labour costing
  • Formulate cost breakdown from estimates and for project progress
  • Attend necessary pre, mid and post bid tender interviews

Site Technician - Swantest

Company overview:

Swantest is a specialist company providing structural testing, investigation, remedial and strengthening solutions for complex projects. We are a team of multi-disciplined engineers who can provide a wide range of specialist site services to the construction, demolition and civil engineering industry.

Site technician role overview: 

We are looking to employ an experienced site technician to join our testing division to work on a range of site investigation projects across London and the home counties.

The main duties of the role will involve driving from site to site, carrying out tests and recording results to allow our engineers to compile reports for clients. You will be provided with and trained in the use of various specialist testing equipment and undertaking in-situ testing, including:

  • Plate Bearing Tests
  • Shear Vane Tests
  • Dynamic cone penetrometer tests

Swantest also carry out a number of other structural tests; such as pull out tests, load capacity tests, barrier tests, and more. The right candidate will also be shown how to carry out these tests to assist our team across the division.

This list is not exhaustive, and the candidate will be expected to take a leading role, get actively involved and become an integral part of the team.

Candidates as a minimum should have the following capabilities:

  • At least 1 year on site experience as a site technician or material testing
  • Numeracy and literacy to GCSE level C or equivalent
  • Capable of impartially recording data and keeping site records
  • Clear communicator, both written and spoken English
  • Clean UK manual driving licence – company van will be provided
  • Proficient in the use of MS Excel and
  • Some knowledge of structures and construction materials
  • Willing to work on site in adverse weather conditions
