We are looking for site administrators to start as soon as possible across our Zone 1 London project portfolio.

Responsibilities include:

  • Inputting waste notes onto SMARTWASTE
  • Delivery and invoice matching on COINS
  • Timesheets, filing, printing, laminating, photocopying/scanning
  • Uploading all site paperwork
  • Covering for other administrators
  • Assisting site teams with production of site documents
  • Dealing with disconnections of water/electric/gas
  • Meeting and greeting clients
  • Maintaining drawings
  • Document control (Aconex, Asite etc.)

Good communication skills are essential, along with strong administration skills. Previous site administration in the construction industry is an advantage.

We are looking for an experienced Quality Manager to maintain quality control of the design and construction process within our Earthworks and Infrastructure Division, focussing on Earthworks, infrastructure, RC Frames and new builds.

Responsible to the Operations Director and based at our extensive project at Ebbsfleet in north Kent, your responsibilities will include

  • Implementing quality protocols on site
  • Updating and develop ITPs and check sheets.
  • Conducting site standard setting, key stage, pre-closeup, functional and finishes inspections
  • Ensuring that site quality rules are in place, communicated and followed when undertaking checks.
  • Taking the lead for the division in external audits conducted by the client/ group QA director and third party audits providing regular quality reports and updates
  • Identifying non-compliances and areas for improvement
  • Addressing the issues with project teams including Project Managers and Employers Agents.
  • Carrying out audits and inspections at the workface

You will have at least five years’ recent experience in one of the following roles in the UK, preferably in the construction sector: Architect or Building Surveyor with full inspection role, experience of technical design and procurement (RIBA stages 3 to 5) of building in the UK would place you at a significant advantage.

The remuneration for this role would be £45-50k annually, with 23 days’ holiday plus bank holidays. You will also hold a full UK driving licence.

Plant Operator Apprenticeship

We are actively seeking versatile and proactive personnel to join our ever-expanding plant division as apprentice plant operators. Based at our site in Ebbsfleet, Kent (although you could be required to work away from home on occasion) your apprenticeship will take 15-18 months to complete. You will be taught and mentored by consummate professionals who will provide you with all the necessary knowledge, skills and behaviours needed to enter the world of plant operating.

• The broad purpose of the role is to check, prepare and safely operate a variety of plant machines that are used on site in the construction sector.
• You will learn to undertake a range of non-operational activities such as checking, maintaining and cleaning machines.
• You will learn how to operate a number of machines used in the construction sector. This apprenticeship covers 4 common types of construction plant: a 360-degree excavator, a dumper truck, a forklift and a ride-on roller.
• You will also learn how to direct and guide other plant and vehicles (plant and vehicle marshaller) and help to load plant onto or off a transporter when it is delivered to another site.

Hire Controller Apprenticeship

We are seeking an apprentice to join its Hire Team based in Ebbsfleet, Kent. You will assist with the accurate and timely delivery of all plant hire and equipment and will be supported by a team of experienced professionals to develop a wide variety of skills and give you the best start to a rewarding career with an award-winning employer. Your apprenticeship will take 12 months to complete. The role requires an individual with excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, an excellent telephone manner, good IT skills and effective administration, planning and organisational skills. You will be supported to develop these skills and, specific to the Hire Controller role, you will learn how to:

  • Source and schedule hired plant/equipment
  • Liaise with external hire plant suppliers as required
  • Raise orders and confirm weekly invoicing
  • Manage daily off-hires
  • Perform other hire office duties including filing of associated paperwork

Working week: Normal working hours are Monday to Friday 7.30am to 5.30pm (45 per week), plus every other Saturday. This applies only to apprentices who are aged 18+. Apprentices aged under 18 will work a max of 40 hours per week including training Salary negotiable but will be at least the National Minimum Wage relevant to the apprentice’s age, therefore £11,255.40 to £22,230.

Site technician role overview: 

We are looking to employ an experienced site technician to join our testing division to work on a range of site investigation projects across London and the home counties.

The main duties of the role will involve driving from site to site, carrying out tests and recording results to allow our engineers to compile reports for clients. You will be provided with and trained in the use of various specialist testing equipment and undertaking in-situ testing, including:

  • Plate Bearing Tests
  • Shear Vane Tests
  • Dynamic cone penetrometer tests

Swantest also carry out a number of other structural tests; such as pull out tests, load capacity tests, barrier tests, and more. The right candidate will also be shown how to carry out these tests to assist our team across the division.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

 Your key duties will include:

  • Provide guidance and advice to projects to ensure they meet their company, statutory and client requirements.
  • Monitor all forms of required consents and monitor evidence of all works being completed in a manner that satisfies all conditions set out by the consents granting bodies.
  • Monitor the environmental performance of all works.
  • Provide management information on the environmental performance of all works.

  • Assist with the development and maintenance of the programme’s EMS, keeping up to date with relevant changes in environmental legislation and initiatives including client requirements where applicable.
