Ty Glas hosts local school visit
Published by Erith on 5 February 2024

Erith recently welcomed pupils from Coed Glas Primary School to our demolition site at the former HMRC buildings in Llanishen, Ty Glas, Cardiff.

Around 120 children visited the site with the day commencing with 40 reception aged students and 10 pupils from Cardiff’s Deaf and Hearing-loss Resource Base hosted within the school. In the afternoon children from year five visited in smaller groups.

All of the students were provided with child size Erith hard hats and hi-viz vests before being escorted to a safe zone where an Erith tipper was situated. The children were given the opportunity to sit in the cab of the truck and learn about the safety aspects of the vehicles.

The high reach demolition of Gleider House commenced just in time for the site visit, allowing the pupils to watch the process from the safe area and ask questions to Senior Contract Manager, Scott Lardner, Project Support Manager, Lily Glover, and Senior Site Manager, Alan Coggin.

Before leaving site, each pupil was given an Erith goodie bag. 22 Chromebooks and licences have also been donated to the school as part of the project’s community engagement and social value targets.
